Files and signatures in responses
Preview photos and videos, download documents, and use drawn signatures — all decrypted only on your screen.
Last updated July 7, 2026
When a response contains uploads, they appear inside the response panel with their original filenames. Images and videos preview directly in the panel; every file can be downloaded to your computer.
Two things happen behind the scenes that are worth knowing:
- Files were encrypted on the respondent's device before upload. On our servers they exist only as sealed data under a random name — even the filename is hidden until you decrypt.
- Decryption happens in your browser when you open or download — the file never exists readable on our side.
Signatures are stored as images inside the response: preview them in the panel, and they're included in PDF exports and ZIP archives (as image files per response).
Warning
Once you download a file, it's an ordinary, unencrypted file on your computer — from there, its protection is your responsibility (disk encryption, careful sharing).
Note
Respondents can attach one file per file-upload question, up to the size you set (default 10 MB, maximum 100 MB per file).
