I can't publish my form
Publishing is blocked for exactly three reasons — all fixable in a minute.
Last updated July 7, 2026
1. Unsaved changes — publishing always applies your saved draft. If the publish button is inactive, Save first (the header shows unsaved-changes state).
2. The form is empty — a form needs at least one question to publish. Layout elements alone (titles, dividers) don't count as questions.
3. A feature outside your plan — the publish check names it precisely, e.g. a signature question, scheduling or a custom URL on Free. You then choose:
- remove or replace that feature (e.g. swap the file-upload question for a text question asking to bring documents along), or
- upgrade — publishing works immediately afterwards.
You can always build with every feature regardless of plan — Schweizerform gates only publishing, so you can try everything before deciding.
Note
The same check runs on Publish changes for live forms — your live version keeps serving untouched while you resolve the draft.
Tip
A closed form can't be edited or republished by design (article 4.5). Need it again? Duplicate it — the copy starts as a fresh draft.
